Detroiter accused of impersonating police officer
DETROIT (AP) - A 51-year-old Detroit man has been charged with impersonating a public officer after he interfered with a prostitution sting operation.
The Wayne County prosecutor's office says William Quirindango (KEER'-ehn-dang-oh) also was charged Thursday with unlawful possession of a badge/patch/uniform. Both charges are misdemeanors.
Prosecutors accuse Quirindango of pulling alongside an undercover female officer Wednesday, flashing a badge, identifying himself as a police officer and yelling "get off the street."
Another man who believed he was speaking with a prostitute drove away.
Quirindango was arrested as he drove away. A loaded .40-caliber handgun, hats and other clothing with police logos were found in his pickup.
He is scheduled to be arraigned at 1 p.m. Friday.
