Two car collision sends one to hospital

OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – A 48-year-old woman from Grand Rapids is in serious condition Wednesday night after a two car accident.

Officials in Ottawa County say Mary Trejo-Cardona was driving westbound on Wilson Street when she ran a stop sign at the intersection of Wilson and 24th Avenue in Chester Township and was struck by a pickup driven by George Herman of Ravenna.

Both vehicles ended up in the southwest side of the intersection, hitting a guard rail.

The passenger in Trejo-Cardona's car, Oralia Ramos, was pinned inside the vehicle for 30 minutes before rescuers could free her. She was airlifted to Spectrum Butterworth hospital where she is listed as being in serious condition.

Officials say everyone involved was wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash and alcohol was not a factor in the accident.
