Parents facing charges in chained girl's death

CENTREVILLE, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The Prosecuting Attorney's Office in St. Joseph County has brought manslaughter and child abuse charges against the parents of Calista Springer.

 

Calista was found dead in her room after a fire at her family's home in February. She had been chained to her bed.

 

Now Anthony and Marsha Springer, Calista's father and adoptive mother, have each been charged with one count of manslaughter and one count of first degree child abuse.

 

The Springers will be arraigned in court on December 15th.

 

If convicted the Springers could face up to 15 years in prison.
