Preparing for the worst at water plant
WEST OLIVE, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Police and fire crews from three different counties along with federal officials are preparing for the worst.
They're holding an emergency drill beginning at 8:30 Wednesday morning at the Lake Michigan Filtration Plant in West Olive.
That plant feeds the Grand Rapids water system which is the second largest in the state.
Emergency responders from Kent, Ottawa and Muskegon Counties are all taking part in Wednesday's exercise as well as members of Homeland Security, the FBI, Michigan State Police and the Coast Guard.
They want to make sure they're ready in case anything ever happened to that plant.
