Police Chase Armed Robbery Suspect

COURTLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - An armed robbery turned into a high speed chase Saturday.

Kent County Sheriff's deputies say an armed 27-year-old Rockford man walked into the Mobil gas station on Northland drive around 7:00 a.m. Saturday and demanded money.

A state DNR police officer happened to be in the gas station at the same time and pursued the suspect as he drove off. The suspect then led police on a chase. It ended in a cornfield near 13 Mile Road and Myers Lake Avenue.

Police were able to catch the suspect and recover the weapon he used in the robbery.
