Family files suit in pneumonia death
Comments 0 | Recommend 0VICKSBURG, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The family of an elderly Vicksburg woman who died of pneumonia after her power was shut off in 2007 is suing the power company.
90-year-old Phyllis Willett and her 63-year-old mentally disabled daughter were found wrapped in blankets by a social worker in December of 2007.
The temperature inside the home at the time was about 20 degrees because the power had been shut off several days before.
Her family is now suing Indiana-Michigan Power for unspecified damages, claiming the company was negligent and didn't identify Willett as a senior citizen eligible for protection from shut-offs.
