Warm weather helps drive Mich. campaign workers
LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Neither Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama nor Republican John McCain are coming to Michigan or sending their vice presidential candidates to plead their case before Election Day.
But the fight to elect them was just as fierce Monday as unusually warm weather made it easier for campaign workers and candidates to stump for votes.
Concerns about long lines Tuesday were causing more people to vote absentee on Monday.
In Detroit, traffic was snarled and the line outside the city election center wrapped around the corner as people rushed to vote early.
In the Detroit suburb of Warren, voters were standing in line for 30 minutes or more to vote absentee.
Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land has said the state could see record turnout.
