Ranji Sinha joined NEWSCHANNEL 3 July 2006, as a reporter based in the Kalamazoo newsroom.

 

Before coming to NEWSCHANNEL 3, Ranji worked as a reporter and morning anchor for WPTZ-TV (NBC) in Plattsburgh, New York, in the Lake Champlain region just south of Montreal.

 

Prior to that, he was a reporter for WVIR-TV (NBC) in Charlottesville, Virginia. Earlier in his career, Ranji had a number of unique professional experiences including a stint with MTV in New York City, reporting for Radio Free Europe in Prague, the Czech Republic, working as a research assistant for WBBM-TV in Chicago, covering the political races for WBUR/National Public Radio during the election cycle of 1996 and producing and editing sports packages while interning for New England Cable News in Boston.

 

Ranji has a Master of Journalism degree from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism and a BA in English from Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts.

 

Ranji is also proficient in French and Bengali, and in recent years has been active in the South Asian Journalists Association and the Asian American Journalists Association.

 

Ranji grew up on Long Island, but his family has an interesting Michigan connection; when his parents first came to the U.S. from India, they lived in Jackson.
