Red Cross shelter closed
MARSHALL, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The American Red Cross Serving Branch/Calhoun Counties has closed the shelter for residents of the area who are temporarily displaced by the oil spill in the Kalamazoo River. Enbridge officials have confirmed that they can meet the housing needs for all of the residents in the voluntary evacuation area.
Area residents are strongly encouraged to call the Enbridge Hotline for needs and assistance. That number is toll-free, 1-800-306-6837. The American Red Cross Serving Branch/Calhoun Counties can be contacted at 269-962-7528. Those seeking medical treatment are encouraged to seek out their nearest hospital.
The American Red Cross continues to be active in the response effort and is helping distribute water to residents affected by the drinking water advisory.
