Schools partnering with businesses
Comments 0 | Recommend 0GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Grand Rapids Public Schools is celebrating its partnership with Spectrum Health Tuesday.
That partnership helped develop the School of Health, Science and Technology which opened this year.
It's one of the district's four new high school Centers of Innovation to give students a specialized education in different areas.
Tuesday night there's a celebration at Central High School with students currently in the program and for those who'd like to enroll.
GRPS announced a similar partnership Monday for its School of Business Leadership and Entrepreneurship.
Amway will now join the district in helping students with that program at Ottawa Hills High School providing some new opportunities.
"I think what separates those who succeed and those who don't is really the ability to be exposed to something that they can be in the future. And this program enables the school system and Amway to do that," said Amway CMO Candace Matthews.
Right now the business program is only available to freshman, but the district hopes this new partnership will help expand it.
