Teeth cracking dog leashes, burning screwdrivers and fire prone ranges recalled

(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Reports of injuries have led to a number of recalls Thursday morning.

The first is for dog owners. A company called Sly-Dog says its retractable leashes can break while you're out walking your pet.

So far five people say the metal clasp snapped, sending the leash flying back at them. Those people suffered broken teeth, cuts on their faces and even eye damage.

The recall involves about 223,000 leashes sold at Dollar General Stores over the past year.

For the second recall you should check your tool boxes. Menards just pulled Master-Force cordless screwdrivers from their shelves.

So far customers have reported three fires because of overheating batteries. One person was burned and another suffered temporary hearing loss.

The recall involves about 42,000 screw drivers sold at Menards between April 2007 and this past May.

A company called Wolf Appliance says its gas stoves can be dangerous. They can take a while to light and then catch fire when they do. It's happened nearly 100 times and 15 people reported minor burn injuries.

Home builders and appliance stores sold the ranges from January 1998 to this June.

More details on these and other recalls can be found at the Consumer Product Safety Department's Web site
