2 motorcyclists hit deer in separate accidents

NEAR CALEDONIA, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Two men are recovering after two separate motorcycle crashes involving deer.

Both happened near Caledonia in Kent County.

The more recent accident happened just before 9:00 Sunday night. Deputies say Tom Houlihan was riding down Thornapple River Drive on his way to work when a deer ran in front of him.

He hit it and the impact threw him from the bike. He went to the hospital with a possible fractured collar bone and punctured lung.

The earlier accident happened around 10 o'clock Saturday night. Deputies investigated a similar situation where a man on a motorcycle hit a deer on 100th Street.

That man went to the hospital with injuries to his arm and chest.
