Sleepy driver shut down I-196 near South Haven

NEAR SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Police say that it was a driver who fell asleep at the wheel caused a crash that shut down I-196 between South Haven and Saugatuck Sunday night.

 

Aero-Med flew the passenger of that pickup truck to the hospital in critical condition, she was not wearing a seatbelt.

 

The driver was also injured in the accident, but police say that his injuries are not life threatening.
