KENT COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – A Kent County woman faces charges after investigators say she stole her sister's identity to get a mortgage.

Maria Franks-Hernandez is from Wyoming. Attorney General Mike Cox says she used her sister's personal information to get an $83,000 mortgage from the State Housing Authority, then defaulted on the loan, leaving taxpayers to pick up the tab.

Franks-Hernandez is charged with identity theft and a count for that bogus mortgage.
