LOWELL, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – Friday, 100 elementary students will head out of the classroom and into the wilderness.

They're planting 1,000 red and white oak and sugar maple trees in Lowell to offset the recent sale of 4,000 Dell computers to the state.

The saplings will replace a harvested area of forest.

It's part of a project called Project Evergreen Schools, which aims to teach kids about environmental and energy-related issues.
