Charged with kidnapping his ex-girlfriend
KENT COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – Thursday saw the arraignment for the man accused of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend and taking her to New York.
Travis Ghent was formally charged Thursday afternoon with unlawful imprisonment and kidnapping.
Prosecutors say Ghent took Raquel Mayhanagian from her home in Byron Center on Friday. She finally escaped in New York and caught a flight back home. Ghent was arrested when he returned.
Mayhanagian says she broke up with Ghent and Thursday, but he showed up at her house the next day, broke her cell phone, drugged her, and locked her in his car.
Mayhanagian filed a personal protection order against him when she returned home.
