Flu fatalities 4 times higher than thought
WASHINGTON D.C. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Federal health officials now estimate 4,000 Americans have died from the H1N1 flu.
That's four times what they previously thought.
The new estimate factors in deaths caused by complications related to the virus.
Doctors say the best way to protect yourself from the virus is to get vaccinated.
A new shipment came in this week in Kalamazoo County so the health department announced a new clinic. The one Thursday is full, but there are spots open for a clinic next Thursday at the fairgrounds.
It's by reservation only so you need to call the health department.
You can only get the shot if you're in a priority group. That group includes pregnant women, emergency responders, people who care for infants, anyone under 25 or under 64 with chronic illness.
