Health care reform debate rages on
WASHINGTON D.C. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The health care reform debate rages on in the U.S. Senate.
Democratic officials say Senate Majority Leader Harry Ried is considering a Medicare tax increase on people who make over $250,000 a year to help pay for the plan.
Folks across the nation are keeping a close eye on the Senate's moves after the U.S. House passed a health care overhaul bill last weekend.
The discussion is not over on the House's version just yet. 90 lawmakers who support abortion rights have asked President Obama for a meeting next week to discuss their opposition to abortion restrictions in that bill. It would ban a new government-run insurance plan from covering abortions except in cases of rape, incest or to save the life of the mother.
