Despite leaks iPhone manages to surprise

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Imagine being told about something you were looking forward to seeing -- only to find that once you laid eyes on it, it was even better than you thought. That's the reaction so far from many in the high-tech world to Apple's latest offering.

The company's announcement that it was getting into the cell phone business came as no big surprise. However, even those who figured it was on the way expressed surprise that the multimedia device has so many features.

An editor with The Mac Observer online news site says that as this year's announcement approached, some of the products Apple fans were dreaming up were "just insane." But in the end, Jeff Gamet says once the product was released, "it was as good if not better than anything we expected."
