SYLVNIA TOWNSHIP, Ohio (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A police officer was suspended for an out of the ordinary issue with his superiors.
"This is an issue about insubordination and failure to follow a direct order. And it is important, in police departments, that orders are given and orders are followed," said Sylvania Township Trustee Dee Dee Liedel.
The officer says suspending him for not trimming his mustache is unacceptable.
He argues that the city is targeting him because he's the new union president.
The department's new facial hair policy states no officer can have hair past the crease of the mouth.
