PORTAGE, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A local teacher is leaving the car at home Friday morning and walking several miles to school.

Mike Huber is a chemistry teacher at Portage Northern High School.

He gave his class a challenge. If every one of them passed their chemistry test he would walk to school.

Mike has a prosthetic leg and lives more than eight miles away in Parchment, so that's quite a hike.

He says he was very impressed by his students' accomplishment, so it's well worth it.

"I'm very proud of them and they're really the bigger reason for me doing all this," said Huber. "For them to rise to the occasion and for them to pass that test, and for them to accomplish that feat, I'm just thrilled."
