The attack took place on a quiet street where police cars are not a common sight, but on Sunday, River Park Road was flooded with police looking for a man who may have broken into a home and assaulted a teenage girl.
The father of the victim did not wish to appear on camera, but told Newschannel 3 that his daughter was home alone, and that the intruder may have come into the home through an unlocked back door.
The event has shocked a neighborhood that seems the picture of suburban calm.
"You just don't expect it," said Theresa Giffels, who lives nearby. "Everybody just kind of just walks the dogs, out working in the yards, it's real quiet."
The Calhoun County Sheriff's Office says they did do searches with a canine unit, checking the area surrounding the homes, which is ringed by cornfields.
State Police are handing the investigation, but so far have little to go on. Officials with the State Police that Newschannel 3 spoke to didn't even have a description of the assailant, they did say that the teenage girl had been treated at a hospital and released.
