Meal delivery volunteer saves woman from house fire
THREE RIVERS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A meal delivery driver in Three Rivers helped save a woman from a house fire.
It's a case of being in the right place at the right time.
The fire department says a Meals on Wheels volunteer noticed the fire at a home on 4th Street when she pulled up to make a delivery.
When the volunteer got closer she could see an older woman inside. She rushed in to help. Neighbors say she couldn't have arrived at a better time.
"She helped. The lady that lives there I know is deaf, so it was a great thing the Meals on Wheels lady did, she was actually the hero of the whole thing," said neighbor Jeff Hepner.
After the volunteer got the woman to safety she called for help on her cell phone.
Investigators say the homeowner has no injuries.
They think the fire started in the kitchen.
