    Testimony continues in Foley trial

COLDWATER, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – Testimony continued Monday in the trial of a man accused of murdering his wife.

DeeDee Foley was found shot to death in the shower of her Girard Township home in February. Her husband, Thomas Foley, called 911 after finding her body. He's accused of being her killer, but Foley claims his wife was killed in a botched burglary attempt.

On Monday, the prosecution wrapped up its case.

Jurors on Monday heard more testimony about Thomas Foley's demeanor in the hours and days after DeeDee's murder.

Foley's mother testified, as did the godmother to the Foley's ten-year-old son.

"I would say their relationship was very close," said Susan Helm.

Helm is Foley's mother, she testified that she saw her son acting emotional when she showed up to the couple's home that Saturday.

"He was hysterical and crying, kept saying, 'She's gone, she's gone, mom, she's gone,'" said Helm.

Joan Pierce, the godmother to Foley's son, also heard those emotions when she spoke to Foley by phone later that night.

"Other people had called me and I didn't believe it, and I said I'll wait until I heard from Tom or Dar," said Pierce.

On the night of DeeDee's death, Pierce says Foley called her around 11:00.

"He said, 'She had died,' and I said, 'Well how can that be, you three were always together,'" said Pierce.

On the day of her death, DeeDee had not showed up to her son Heath's birthday party. Thomas Foley called 911 when he found his wife shot and killed in a first-floor bathroom.

"He said, 'I know Jean, I know, I should have been there for her,'" said Pierce.

Pierce taught with DeeDee for ten years, and was godmother to Heath Foley. She saw Thomas Foley the day after the murder.

"He was crying, and we were crying, I mean everybody was crying," said Pierce.
