Viewer: Please watch out for deer on the roads
DELTON, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – Bow season for deer has begun and gun season is fast approaching (it begins 11/15).
When hunting season is underway many people in Michigan say that you will see more deer out on the roads as they are spooked by hunters. Deer season also overlaps their rutting season, which also has them out on the roads more often.
A viewer wrote into the newsroom wanting us to warn people about the danger of deer on the roads during their rutting season. Here's her letter:
Please stress the importance of watching out for deer on the road during this rutting season. I've lived in the country all my life and consider myself "deer smart" but I had a deer come through my windshield Wednesday morning in Delton while on my way to work. Thankfully, I was unharmed. The deer landed in the passenger seat of my car. The car is totaled.
