Wal-Mart shuts down man giving out gift cards
CONNECTICUT (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - An out-of-work executive tried to spread some holiday cheer, but ended up getting scrooged.
Barry Goldberg bought $1,300 worth of $10 gift cards from a Connecticut Wal-Mart. He planned on dressing like Santa and handing them out in front of the store.
But employees stepped in and stopped him.
"They asked me, 'well, where did you get these cards?' I bought them from your store 20 minutes ago. 'Well, what are you doing?'' (they asked). I said, 'I'm giving out gift cards. It's the holidays. The right thing to do is to give, isn't it?'"
Wal-Mart made him leave. The store said he was blocking customers from getting inside.
He still has about 50 cards to give out though he's not sure how to do it quite yet.
