U.S. Drug Czar: We're losing war on drugs
WASHINGTON D.C. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – They are losing the war on drugs. That's how the U.S. Drug Czar describes it.
The U.S. government has spent $1 trillion over the last 40 years trying to battle illegal drugs, but Drug Czar Gil Kerlikowske says it hasn't been successful.
This week President Obama announced a new policy to treat drug use as a public health issue.
Kerlikowske says it will take time to put this new plan in place and see if it achieves its goals.
