White water rafting, in GR?
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - This time of year white water rafting is probably the farthest thing from your mind.
But one group is hoping to churn up some ideas to make it happen in West Michigan.
They're looking to take their kayaks out for some extreme fun on the Grand River in downtown Grand Rapids.
One problem is that there are no rapids right now.
The Grand Action group sees four options. One involves creating a channel parallel to the river. The City of South Bend did something similar. They diverted water from the St. Joe River.
Other options involve rebuilding or enhancing the 4th Street Dam.
The group wants to know what you think. They're meeting Wednesday night at 7:00 on Grand Valley State University's Grand Rapids campus.
