Waterspout over South Haven

Waterspouts spotted off South Haven

SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - People on some parts of the lake shore had a bit of a scare Thursday, as several waterspouts passed overhead.

Waterspouts are basically tornadoes that are over water. They are usually weaker than their land-based counterparts. Waterspouts can easily over turn boats. They also produce gusty winds as they move onshore, but quickly dissipate as they move over land.

No injuries or damage has been reported from the waterspouts.
