Summer vacation is over, watch your speed
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Whether you dread it or can't wait for it, it's here. It is the first day of school.
In Grand Rapids, the police are sending out an SOS, but it means School's Open Soon, slow down.
The goal of all this is to get people back in the habit of slowing down near schools now that the students are headed back.
This isn't actually a speed enforcement program, it's more of a public awareness campaign.
The police will issue tickets if they see anyone breaking the law in clear view of a school zone or near buses unloading children.
Operation SOS runs until September 9th.
