Hit and Run Accident Injures Pregnant Women

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A pregnant woman was taken to the hospital after a hit and run accident.

Kalamazoo Public Safety says it happened around 2a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Lovell and Oakland.

A black Honda Accord ran a red light at the intersection and hit a Pontiac Grand Am traveling southbound on Oakland.

Police says the suspect kept on driving. The driver of the Grand Am is five months pregnant and had to be pried out of her vehicle. The extent of her or her unborn child's injuries are unknown.

Kalamazoo Public Safety is still looking for a white male or female who was driving the black Honda Accord which will have extensive front end damage.

The accident is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Kalamazoo Public Safety at 337-8994, Silent Observer at 343-2100 or kalamazoosilentobserver.com.

What is a five month pregnant woman doing out on the streets of Kalamazoo at two in the morning? I bet she regrets running the roads when she should be at home in bed at that hour. I've never heard of any good coming out of hanging out on the streets at that hour. People need to get a clue......sounds like someone was leaving the bar and ran a light and struck her car.

You ask "What is a five month pregnant woman doing driving the streets at two in the morning?"....The answer is Whatever she wants to!!!. She's an adult woman - not a child! Maybe she just got off work - it doesnt matter. Why place any fault with the victim of the hit and run when they did nothing wrong???

Nothing like blaming the pregnant woman there otsegomom if anyone needs to get a clue maybe its you. What does it matter what she was doing out at that time.. she is an adult. The comment you made stating I bet she regrets running the roads at that time of hour who are you the perfect one.. from your comments I would say obviously not. I really hope this woman and her unborn child will be okay and that the catch the scum who hit them. I agree with you carolinakay why place the fault on the victim....

Wow... I must agree with carolina and turko. Otsegomom is obviously placing the blame on the victim; what kind of world does she live in that people can only operate on one shift? We all lead different lives, with different demands and different schedules. By the way, the article didn't say she was hanging on the streets, and that's a terrible assumption to make. We don't have to assume though; she put it that way herself... a statement like hers is obviously very ignorant and close-minded.

OMG! and here I thought that I was the ignorant one on this comment page. Give me a break otsego! Maybe she is a nurse and was on her way to the 3 a.m. - 3 p.m. shift. Maybe she's a dispatcher on her way home from a long night of helping people. Maybe she needed chocolate icecream and dill pickles and her husband works 3rd shift. I'll have to excuse your comment since you're from Otsego and all, but please refrain from showing your ignorance on the boards, it's really no fun slamming someone with so little sense.

Wow Otsegomom, not everyone who is out at 2am is leaving a bar, or maybe she was because she could of worked there to support her family. Who cares what she was doing out at 2am? Talk about a judgemental peice of work, who are you to belittle this woman who was injured while pregnant at NO FAULT OF HER OWN, who are you to say anything about her for being out at 2am? I understand this is for people to state their opinions and thoughts, but your judgement? I hope this woman never sees what you wrote, I hope nothing happens to her and her baby, and I hope at some point you realize the fault was not the pregnant woman but the hit and run driver in the other car..you know, the one who fled the scene of the accident?

I sure hope this poor woman and her unborn child are going to be ok. I also hope the driver who hit her comes forward, or anyone else who sees the banged up car and puts two and two together comes forward.

On another point, the headline says "...Pregnant Women".

Was there more than one pregnant woman? Or was it obviously another one of the on-going WWMT editorial gaffes? I have seen bloggers do this, but this is someone writing for the WWMT team. They should know better.

For the record, the word 'women' indicates plural (more than one woman) wom-a-n is the correct singular reference (singular meaning one, not the cell phone company).

My apologies for sounding condescending, but come on- a professional writer should not be making middle school grammar mistakes.

I didn't place any "blame" on the pregnant woman. You wouldn't catch me dead on the streets of Kalamazoo at any hour. Maybe she was coming home from work, maybe not. Maybe she was out chasing her "baby daddy", maybe she was out buying crack, maybe she was....who gives a ####. I was just expressing my opinion, one of the few freedoms I still have. If ya don't like it, tough. I do hope they are both okay. You don't see the people from Otsego crying about all our problems on the news. Our city is just fine. I think your name says it all "kfed" Next time you try to insult someone, make sure YOUR post is written correctly. We learned to capitalize proper names like "Otsego" back in the second grade. Hahahaha.

otsegomom: You give the town of Otsego a bad name. How dare you judge a person for driving on the streets at night. I think everyone else put it nicely, we have NO idea why she was out at 2:00am and it is none of our business. The story here is a person blindly ran through a light and hit a woman- potentially hurting her and her unborn child. Then the coward didn't even have the decency to stop and help.... he/she chose to run instead. That is the issue here, not what a grown adult was doing out at night. You seem like a very judgmental and mean-spirited person. I hope to never cross your path... gasp- especially during the night time hours. But then again, you must not go out past dark!

otsegomom, I work in Otsego. Please don't paint a picture of Otsego being Mayberry. It's full of women "out chasing her baby daddy" and "buying crack". You may not be part of that, but Otsego has it's share of drug addicts and unwed parents..since it seems you have such issues with these behaviors. Kzoofedup did use proper capitalization...it looks as though he/she was addressing you "otsegomom"...which is not capitalized.
