60 jobs could be lost in Wyoming Public Schools
WYOMING, MICH. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – A shrinking budget could force Wyoming Public Schools could slash 60 jobs on Monday night.
District leaders are looking to cut $2.4 million mid-year.
Among those slated to lose their jobs; at least 22 teachers, six school counselors, two assistant principals, and an athletic director.
The superintendent says the cuts are needed to prevent even bigger cuts in 2010. He also says the cuts could be avoided if staff members agreed to a 3.2 percent pay cut.
The teacher's union wants the district to dip into the general fund to cover the gap.
A meeting on those cuts is scheduled for Monday at 5:30 pm.
