DENSE FOG ADVISORY

UNTIL 10 AM

The National Weather Service issues a DENSE FOG ADVISORY for all of West Michigan until 10 AM.  Many reports of dense fog already exist, and your visibility may become worse before noticeable improvements.  Recent rainfall, high moisture levels, especially near the ground, and light winds all combine to create fog.  Slowing down and increasing your stopping distance are a few ways to increase your safety while driving.

Eleven-year-old Marquinious story image
KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) In this Big Brothers Big Sisters report, Newschannel 3 is introducing you to a very special boy, with a very special interest in science.

Hes eleven, and hes looking for a mentor, a big brother. When he came to Newschannel 3 he gravitated to the weather center and Keith Thompson.

It was a rainy day when we met eleven-year-old Marquinious, so we brought him to the station and found out how much he likes science.

My favorite subject is science, said Marquinious.

Marquinious got a crash course on the science of weather from our Chief Meteorologist Keith Thompson, and he learned a lot in not a lot of time. You could tell he would do well with a big brother, something he wants very much.

I want somebody to talk to and I want him to take me places that I haven't been, said Marquinious.

Marquinious is looking for someone to guide him through the middle school years and beyond and hes got big plans for the Big Brother hes looking forward to having.
