NETHERLANDS (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Glow in the dark road markings have replaced street lights along a stretch of highway in the Netherlands this week.

It not only looks amazing, but could cut streetlight power use.

The glow in the dark paint is made using a photo-luminescent road paint.

It's unknown at this point how the paint will hold up against wear and tear, but it can glow for a steady 8 hours if powered by the sun during the day.

The next step in the project is to make weather markings, like snowflakes, that would appear on the road when the temperature reached a certain level.
