ST. ANTHONY, Minn. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Thursday was National High Five Day, and one neighborhood in Minnesota celebrated in a very special way.

They attempted a world record in honor of a little boy, fighting cancer.

Friends and strangers lined the streets to help Evan Thornton break a record for the most high fives in a minute Thursday.

He's been fighting a rare form of bone cancer for two years.

He needed 212 to break the record, and he got a reported 221 high fives.

Guinness still has to confirm the results.
