KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Today we're introducing you to an animal in need of a home.
Every Tuesday and Friday, Newschannel 3 is featuring an animal up for adoption from the SPCA in Kalamazoo.
The SPCA is a no-kill shelter and takes in animals from local animal control groups and others around the country.
They have in-house veterinary care, so all their animals are spayed or neutered, up to date on their shots, and treated for fleas.
The SPCA also takes great care to make sure the dogs are socialized.
In addition, the SPCA features an extensive foster network, so if the animal is struggling with the shelter environment, it can be placed into a foster home until it is adopted.
Today's pet is Molly, a 3-year-old beagle.
She's very happy and sweet, and has come a long way.
Police officers removed Molly from a home where her owner kept her chained outside in the middle of January, and when she arrived at the SPCA, she was extremely sick and undernourished, weighing just 14 pounds.
She's much better now, as she is back up to 23 pounds.
If you're interested in giving Molly a permanent, loving home, call the SPCA at (269)344-1474.
