British artist's dream leads to new sport of 'freewheeling'

British artist
(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - British artist Sue Austin wants to show the world that just because she's in a wheelchair doesn't mean she is limited.

Austin's dream to dive met a lot of negative backlash in the beginning.

Engineers told her it wouldn't work, and that the wheelchair would not be able to perform underwater.

But she proved them wrong, with a team of experts, building her underwater chair--named 'Portal'--in 2005.

With the invention, Austin developed a sport known as 'Freewheeling.'

She's been recognized all over the world for her accomplishment, but Austin says the most important part is the freedom she has gained when underwater.
