3 Injured in a 2 Car Accident

ALMENA TOWNSHIP (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Police say rain was to blame for a two car accident.

The Van Buren County Sheriff's Office says the accident happened around 1p.m. Saturday on M-43 and Fish Hatchery Road. Terri Ann Hagen, 46, of Kalamazoo was stopped on Fish Hatchery Road. She then proceeded through the intersection into the path of Thomas Shuster, 50, of Portage who was heading eastbound on M-43.

Hagen claims she thought the intersection was clear and did not see Shuster's Mitsubishi Eclipse. Shuster hit Hagen's Buick LeSabre on the passenger side.

Terri was trapped in the vehicle and was freed by the Jaws of Life. She and her passengers Ashely Nicole Hagen, 16, and Cody Leroy Hagen, 9, were taken to the hospital. Terri and Ashely were treated and released. Cody was treated for multiple fractures to his leg and is still in the hospital. Shuster was not injured in the accident.
