GM/UAW reach agreement in Delta Township
Comments 0 | Recommend 0DETROIT (AP) -- General Motors Corp. and a local union have reached a new agreement that could end a monthlong strike at a plant near Lansing.
GM spokesman Dan Flores says the automaker and UAW Local 602 reached the tentative agreement early Thursday.
UAW Local 602 represents 3,300 workers at the Delta Township plant, which makes GM's hot-selling Buick Enclave, Saturn Outlook and GMC Acadia crossovers.
Workers will remain on strike until the contract is ratified.
Flores didn't yet know when the vote would take place.
GM and the UAW reached a national contract agreement last fall, but local unions negotiate their own work rules and other issues.
GM announced Wednesday it was cutting health care benefits for the striking workers.
