BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - 26-year-old Michael Dickinson was shot and killed by a sniper in 2006. He died just days before he was due to come home.

Friday, his family held its second annual Family Day in Battle Creek.

It's a fund-raiser for the Dickinson Memorial Scholarship Fund. That money will help send at-risk kids in Battle Creek to summer camp.

Michael's mother, Vicki, says this is one way she keeps his spirit alive.

The events took place at the Eagles Lodge in Battle Creek.
