State congressman brings legislation on stem cell research

July 29, 2008 - 8:04 AM

LANSING, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Many people say stem cell research could unlock the cures to several diseases.

Critics call the method unethical.

Now, a state lawmaker is looking to bridge the gap between the two arguments.

Representative Marty Knollenberg, a republican out of Troy, introduced a bill encouraging alternative cell research. It proposes using adult skin cells for testing.

The legislation offers incentives for companies expanding their alternative research.
