STURGIS (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Officials in Sturgis found three young kids and a whole lot of drugs after trying to figure out why the kids weren't in school.

Childrens' Service workers went to a Sturgis home to check out a report of truancy and unsanitary conditions.

What they found was a working meth lab and three young children in the home.

Officers arrested three people, including the children's mother, who police say showed up later at the home with more meth-making materials.

Juan Arce, age 45, Heather Goodwin, age 25 and Ryan Murphy, age 19, were all arrested in the incident.

The four children were all taken into protective custody.
