(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A new report says climate change could melt away thousands of jobs in Michigan.

Scientists say Michigan's temperature will increase five to 10 degrees over the next decade. At the same time rainfall will drop between 20 and 40 percent.

The scientists say the dry conditions could drop water levels in the Great Lakes up to eight feet.

As a result they told the National Conference of State Legislatures that Michigan could lose more than $4 billion in foreign trade as well as 13,000 jobs.

Scientists say it's time for state governments to pump more money into the fight against global warming.
