Disgraced Ex-councilwoman Conyers back as TV host

HIGHLAND PARK, Mich. (AP) - Monica Conyers is still hosting her weekly TV talk show, although she admits she'll have to change its title from "Ask the Councilwoman with Monica Conyers."

During her Tuesday appearance on Highland Park's WHPR, Conyers didn't discuss her guilty plea last week to a bribery conspiracy charge, or her resignation Monday as president pro tem of the Detroit City Council.

Conyers did thank her supporters, vilify the media and express regret for hiring political activist Sam Riddle as her chief of staff. Riddle was linked to the bribery investigation but has not been charged.

Conyers says she never would have hired Riddle if she had listened to her husband, Democratic U.S. Rep. John Conyers.

Conyers ended the broadcast by apologizing to Detroiters and blowing a kiss.
