Don Cooney Running Against Rep. Fred Upton

KALAMAZOO (Newschannel 3) - A Kalamazoo Commissioner is setting his sights on Washington.
Wednesday, long-time local political figure, Don Cooney, announced that he will running for Congress.
Cooney, a Democrat, has been outspoken in regards to his views on the the war in Iraq. He says that the United States shouldn't be investing in war, but rather the people and infrastructure in our country.
Cooney will face Republican Fred Upton for the seat. Upton has held the 6th District congressional seat for more than 20 years.
This will not be an easy win for Cooney, as the 6th District has a long history of voting for Republicans.
