NEAR CLIMAX (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Wet roads played a role in a deadly chain reaction crash on I-94 Wednesday.

It started with an accident around 1:15 Wednesday afternoon near Climax when a car crossed the median and hit another car head-on.

Less than 10 minutes later police say a driver failed to see stopped traffic ahead and plowed into the back of a semi.

The passenger, a Battle Creek woman, died at the scene.

Her husband and five-year-old grandson both went to the hospital with injuries but are expected to be okay.

Police say the boy's car seat likely saved his life.
