BATTLE CREEK (Newschannel 3) - A jury in Battle Creek has convicted a daycare provider from Springfield of killing a child in her care.
Five-month-old Damien Lewis died last September from an overdose of Ambien, a sleeping drug, under Ruthann Jarvis' watch.
Prosecutors say Jarvis gave the boy the pill shortly after his mother had dropped him off at the Sunny Daze Daycare on the morning of September 26th, 2007.
Thursday afternoon, the jury found her guilty of Involuntary Manslaughter and Second Degree Child Abuse, after a trial that lasted less than two days.
Jarvis faces up to 15 years in prison. A sentencing date has not yet been set.
