MSU Riot Cost The City $50,000
Comments 0 | Recommend 0EAST LANSING (AP) - Police say they've positively identified 11 people suspected of taking part in Cedar Fest, the party near the Michigan State University campus that turned into a riot last month.
Warrants have been issued for eight of the suspects and three cases are under review, the East Lansing Police Department says in an update on the April 5-6 disturbance.
The department estimates the cost of policing Cedar Fest will exceed $50,000. That includes overtime paid to officers and other assisting agencies, damage to city vehicles and medical treatment provided to 33 people by the East Lansing Fire Department.
Police arrested 52 people the night of Cedar Fest. Two have pleaded guilty, with many of the others scheduled to go to trial Tuesday, the Lansing State Journal reports.
