ADA (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A small Fed Ex plane carrying cargo made an emergency landing in Ada.
It happened around 8:45 p.m. on Friday, and the landing took place in a field in the 1700 blk. of Egypt Valley Avenue.
NEWSCHANNEL 3 spoke with officials at CSA Air, who say the plane was on a routine trip from Traverse City to the Gerald R. Ford Airport in Grand Rapids when it went down unexpectedly.
The plane is a small Cessna 208 which was contracted out to a company called CSA Air, based in Kingsford, MI.
Then Kent County Sheriffs Department claims the pilot advised that several warning lights activated and the engine lost power.
The pilot followed proper procedure to get the engine back up and running but was unsuccessful.
He was able to guide the plane down in an open field but struck numerous trees in the process tearing off the wings on the plane.
CSA Air says they have spoken with the pilot, and he did not even receive a scrape in the accident, and there was no one else in the plane.
