BREAKING OVERNIGHT: Cheesebrough Fire
FREEPORT, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - We're getting a look right now at the flames at the height of the fire at the Cheesebrough Corporation in Freeport.

Lani Forbes with the Freeport Fire Department tells Newschannel 3 there had been concerns for years about the possibility the manufacturing plant would catch fire.They say they had a plan in place and were prepared this morning calling out mutual aid and water tankers from surrounding communities.Read More at: http://www.wwmt.com/news/features/featured/stories/bullets-explode-during-house-fire-28.shtmlLAccording to the company website The Cheesebrough Corporation makes wood rakes and flag-sticks as well as a number of other wooden items and has been "shipping durable outdoor goods around the globe over the past three centuries."It's also believed to be one of the last plants in the United States to use a pulley system. As such the building was filled with flammables including oils and wood.The building was evacuated and no injuries were reported.Lt. Forbes says there was no damage to surrounding structures but vehicles across the street at a car dealership were damaged by the heat.The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
